Screening

What we ask, why we ask it, and who sees the answers.

Screening protects you first. It makes sure a pregnancy is safe for you, that your family is supported, and that the family you carry for is matched to you honestly. Here is every part of it.

The parts of screening

Five parts, and none of them are tests you study for.

Your pregnancy records

With your written permission, we request records from each prior pregnancy and delivery. A reviewer looks for anything that would make another pregnancy riskier for you.

Background checks

For you and every adult in your home. You will receive a disclosure and give written consent first, as the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires, and you can see your report.

A home and support conversation

A video visit and a chat with your partner, if you have one, about your routine, childcare, and who will help you through the pregnancy.

A psychological evaluation

After you match, a licensed counselor meets with you and your partner and may ask you to complete a standardized questionnaire. It is about preparation and support, not judgment.

A medical evaluation

After you match, the parents' fertility clinic examines you, including an ultrasound of your uterus, bloodwork and screening tests. Your travel and time off are paid.

Your information

Who sees what.

Your health information is used for screening, matching and your care. It is encrypted, access is limited to the people working on your journey, and we never sell it.

Intended parents see your profile and a summary of your screening. They see your medical records only through their clinic, and only with your written authorization.

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it, at any time.

Ready when you are.
